ITHosting & operations

Hosting & operations

Hosting with operations: someone is keeping watch.

Butler Office operates websites, servers and applications – including backups, monitoring, updates and a point of contact who knows your environment.

Starting point

Storage space is cheap. Operations are the real work.

A hosting package is quickly ordered. What comes afterwards is rarely part of the offer: who installs updates? Who notices when the website is no longer reachable or the certificate expires? And has the backup everyone relies on ever been restored?

In many small companies the honest answer is: nobody, nobody and no. That goes well for a long time – and becomes expensive as soon as it no longer does. On top of this come questions from customers, auditors or insurers who want to know how data is backed up and systems are maintained.

We take over operations. That means: responsibility for what is running, transparently documented and with clear responsibilities.

What Butler Office takes on

From web hosting to your own server.

You choose the scope, we take care of the rest. All services can be obtained individually or in combination.

Managed web hosting

Hosting for websites and shops on a managed Plesk environment. We set up domains, certificates, e-mail mailboxes and databases, keep the platform up to date and make sure that PHP versions and security settings match your application.

Managed servers & virtual machines

For applications with their own requirements we operate dedicated or virtual servers: operating system, services, hardening, users and access. You get an environment that suits your software – and do not have to worry about the underlying layers.

Backup, restore tests & disaster recovery

We set up encrypted backups and regularly check whether a restore from them actually works. For business-critical systems we draw up a disaster recovery concept: what is backed up where, how the recovery proceeds and who does what in an emergency.

Monitoring & updates

Availability, load, certificates and storage space are monitored. We see anomalies before your customers notice them. We install updates for the operating system, services and applications on a planned basis – with a way back if something does not fit.

Migration & change of provider

A move does not have to be a risk. We record the existing environment, plan the sequence, test in advance and switch over at the agreed time – including DNS, e-mail and follow-up checks.

Managed applications & DNS

We operate open-source applications such as cloud storage, a ticketing system, password management, web analytics or an automation platform as a managed service: installed, backed up, updated. We also take on the management of your domains and DNS zones.

Typical use cases

When it pays off.

The website has become business-critical

Enquiries, bookings or orders come in via the website. An outage costs revenue – so monitoring, backup and a plan are needed.

The previous administrator is no longer there

Access details are unclear, nobody knows the settings. We take over in an orderly manner, document and bring the environment up to a well-maintained state.

An insurer requires evidence

What is asked for is a backup concept, update practice and restore tests. We create the technical basis and record it in writing.

An application of your own needs a home

Industry software, an internal tool or an open-source solution should run reliably without you having to look after servers yourself.

Who it is for

Is this right for you?

For SMEs, associations and self-employed people whose website, shop or application has to run reliably – and who do not want to employ their own system administrator for it.

Agencies and developers who want to concentrate on their work and place operations in reliable hands are also in the right place with us.

How we proceed
  • Assessment – what runs where, with which access details and dependencies?
  • Concept – target environment, backup, monitoring and responsibilities.
  • Move or takeover – planned, tested, documented.
  • Operations – updates, monitoring, backups and regular checks.
